Improving the Town Close app experience

Sometime in June, MoneyInfo, who provide the Town Close App for us, will be introducing ‘passkeys’ as an option to login to the app.

With this update, the existing PIN code, password and biometric logins you currently use will (optionally) be replaced by Passkeys. For those that use a laptop/desktop to access the system, that too will become Passkey enabled.

Passkeys are a secure, passwordless way to log in to apps and websites. Instead of typing a password, you authenticate using a fingerprint, face scan, or device PIN.

In a nutshell, your device stores a private key and the website gets a matching public key. When you log in, the website sends a challenge that only your private key can solve, proving it’s you, without revealing any secret information.

They're safer than passwords (no phishing or reuse risks) and easier to use.

To enable the Passkey feature, you will need your current login ID & password one last time, but don’t panic if you have forgotten them, our team we be able to assist.

We will issue a further and more detailed communication about passkeys a week or so before they become enabled.
