Real success isn’t about selling. Real success is about serving.
How best can we serve our clients and, if you are a leader, your team?
Is it more memos? More reports? More meetings? Or more ideas?
Ideas come from “being” much more than “doing”.
This is how I served my team today – I got out of their way, I went for a walk, I allowed new thinking to come in. I waited until I was truly present in the moment.
How did I know that moment had arrived? I could feel my skin.
Sometimes nothing comes and that’s ok.
How did I serve my client today?
I sat still and stared at the wall, their notes and financial plan, I took time to remind myself of who they are, how they are and where they are. And then the ideas started.
Will they be the best ideas for them? I don’t know, but I do know they are uncontrived and based only on them and nothing whatsoever on me.
When we meet, they will surely get a sense of that, that this is for them, that they have been heard, that they are being served.
And that’s success.
