When did you join the Town Close Team and can you describe what you do?

I worked at IBM for most of my career, in brand marketing & sponsorship roles (including IBM’s sponsorship of the Wimbledon Championships), so when Jeremy asked me to run a brand workshop for him, I jumped at the chance! That was back in January 2016, and I have continued on a part-time basis since then! I dip my toes into most things that don’t involve financial planning.

What’s a typical day like for you?

I’m very lucky that my role is so varied that I rarely have typical day – there are so many different things to do! My job title – ‘Head of Stuff’ perfectly sums my role up!  It includes events, webinars, branding, website, IT, the Portal. Never a dull moment!

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

The variety and the people I work with – we have a great team and a great team spirit – we work hard, of course, but we also laugh a lot!

What do you appreciate most about working with your current team?

Everyone really cares about our clients and each other. We really do try to put clients at the heart of our thinking and be the very ‘human’ face of financial planning.

What are your top three films of all time?

Moulin Rouge, Jaws & Brief Encounter!

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

I’d love to morph back 30 years when I was young, slim and carefree!  But probably only for a month or two! 😎

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

If you have a £500 overdraft, it’s your problem. If you have a £100,000 overdraft, it’s the bank’s problem!

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Anything potato based. Step away from the Hash Browns!!!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I’m lucky to have travelled widely, but Japan is one of the few places left on my bucket list.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you want to have with you?

I’d be bored senseless!  I’d need a Kindle so I could read books, an iPad and something to charge them both!!
